Healing Begins Here.
I have lived in Oregon my entire life; edging from Gresham, to all the corners of Portland, and finally breached the great divide to the west side of the river in 2018. Professionally, I’ve navigated the mental health system in the Portland metro area for 17 years, with experience working, first as a licensed mental health therapist and then as a psychiatric provider. I grew up in Oregon, attending Portland State University for Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology (2002), then earning a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology (2005). I achieved licensure as a therapist (LPC) in 2008 and then in 2013 began my nursing education, achieving my RN in 2014 and then board certification as an advanced practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in 2016. My philosophy is that physical wellness and mental wellness go hand in hand. This dynamic informs treatment planning as a complement to finding the appropriate medications to fit a patient’s needs. In the midst of emotional distress, a treatment focused on self care and maximizing daily functioning can affirm life balance and regain holistic health, assisted by therapy and when needed, medication. My work has led me through numerous levels of mental health care; outpatient (adult and children), inpatient medical as psychiatry liaison, inpatient psychiatry, emergency department, and correctional settings. This experience has shaped my practice across a wide span of demographics and degree of vulnerability.

Sandy Duram, CADC I | Primary Residential Counselor
Primary Residential Counselor
Crestview Recovery Services, LLC
Healing Begins Here.
Sandy was born and raised in the state of Michigan and lived there until moving to Chicago, IL in 2021. She enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, and exploring the beauty of nature with her husband and adult-aged children. She is also a photographer and lists waterfalls, mountains, ocean/lakes, and the night sky as her favorite photography subjects. This love of hiking and nature photography is what drew her to a life on the West Coast.
Sandy’s childhood experiences with parents who struggled with mental health illnesses and learning to overcome her own struggles with mental health, is what motivated her to pursue education and a career in counseling. Sandy completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2019 and has begun Master’s degree coursework in clinical mental health counseling. Sandy obtained her CADC 1 and worked as a substance use counselor in Chicago for 2 ½ years before relocating to Portland, OR at the end of 2023. She is passionate about providing counseling and support for women struggling with substance use, as she recognizes that women have unique and often overlooked and underserved mental health needs that negatively impacts their recovery journey. Sandy believes in every person’s ability to create positive change in their life and uses a client-centered approach to counseling. She considers her role to be a supporting one in helping each client achieve their personal goals for recovery and an improved quality of life.

Mark Hansen, CADC II, QMHA-R, CGAC-R | Primary Counselor
Primary Counselor
Crestview Recovery Services, LLC
Healing Begins Here.
Certified Alcohol and Drug Therapist with over 7 years of experience specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Substance Abuse (CBI-SA). My experience spans various settings, including working with individuals in a maximum-security prison (3 years), a Native American Rehabilitation center (1 year), and a methadone clinic (over 3 years). This diverse background equips me to address the unique challenges faced by a wide range of clients.
In addition to addiction treatment, I am well-versed in codependency, grief and loss, and offer a holistic approach that empowers clients to address underlying issues. This includes creating personalized relapse prevention plans, fostering anger management, and developing coping skills for emotional regulation.
When I’m not helping clients overcome addiction, you might find me backpacking through stunning landscapes in the summer. These solo adventures allow me to practice mindfulness and stress management techniques, skills I also utilize to help clients navigate their own emotional journeys.
Winter evenings are often spent battling imaginary foes in epic Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. This collaborative game fosters teamwork, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills – all instrumental in tackling challenges with clients. And, if the opportunity arises, I’m always up for channeling my inner Jedi Knight with a bit of cosplay! Embodying the ideals of a Jedi Knight – courage, compassion, and self-discipline – reminds me of the strength and resilience my clients possess in their own battles.

“I believe that one’s sexuality is an integral part of who they are, and having a healthy sense of one’s sexuality is a part of one’s living a healthier, sober life. I also believe that embracing one’s soul life from a psychological, spiritual, and/or religious perspective can provide an additional foundation to draw upon as one journeys through recovery toward living a sober life.

Berlin Hefley is a clinical nutritionist who earned her master’s of science in nutrition at National University of Natural Medicine. She is currently working to obtain her Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) certificate which will allow her to become a licensed dietician (LD) in Oregon. Berlin earned her undergraduate degree in sociology from U of O- this being said, combining both nutrition and community work is of the utmost importance to her. She focuses on making nutrition accessible to everyone, and realizes that we all lead unique and stressful lives, so tailoring the approach to the individual is her biggest goal. Berlin’s philosophy is that food should bring us joy and nourishment, and be something that adds to our life, not take away from it. This is why problem solving around cost and time are at the forefront of her practice. Making food is at the core of what she does: Berlin loves to demonstrate easy and practical ways to take nutrition science and to apply it to the kitchen. She loves working with people from all walks of life, but is passionate about working with the following conditions: addiction recovery, depression/ anxiety, PCOS, diabetes, and eating disorders/ disordered eating. When not reading the latest nutrition research, you can find Berlin in the kitchen making delicious recipes (and then eating them), hiking, reading, and immersing herself in community.

Jennifer Stratton, LPC
Family Counselor, Group Counselor, Art and Mindfulness
Crestview Recovery Services, LLC
Healing Begins Here.
Jennifer Stratton serves as a counselor at Crestview Recovery. She is the co-creator of Crestview’s innovative Family Program. Her extensive experience and education provides a strong foundation to support Crestview Recovery clients and their families in healing.
Jennifer works from a strength-based approach with families that focuses on neurobiology of addiction and relationship dynamics. Her practice in facilitating groups demonstrates how family members can learn about effective communication and barriers to self-care, shame, and stigma.
Jennifer also runs Crestview’s Mindful Art Therapy and Mindfulness groups. She uses evidence-based methods, including Kristin Neff’s work on self-compassion.
“I find that younger people especially respond to mindfulness exercises and art therapy. We can engage different parts of the brain. With opioid addicts, the ability to focus has usually been greatly impaired for some time. Art processes effectively sustain focus and engage clients in the present moment.”
Jennifer earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois and a Master’s in Counseling from National Louis University, she continued her post-grad training with a Certification in Mindful Self-Compassion from Kristin Neff, PhD and studied the Hakomi Method of mindfulness somatic psychotherapy in Portland. Jennifer completed her post-grad internship at Hazelden Betty Ford.
