Flexible, Intensive Support for Mental Health Disorders
One of the key benefits of PHP is its structured yet flexible schedule. Participants attend therapy sessions and other therapeutic activities during the day (typically five days a week) and return home in the evenings. This structure provides a consistent routine crucial for mental health recovery, while also allowing individuals to stay connected with their families and communities.
Our PHP is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed therapists, and support staff. This team works collaboratively to create individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of each participant. Regular assessments and adjustments ensure that the treatment remains effective and responsive to the participant’s progress.
What’s Included in Our PHP?
Individual therapy is a cornerstone of our PHP. Participants meet one-on-one with a therapist or counsellor to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This personalized approach allows for deep, meaningful work that can lead to significant breakthroughs and lasting change.
Group therapy is another essential component of our PHP. Participants engage in therapy sessions with peers who are facing similar challenges. This creates a supportive environment where individuals can share their experiences, learn from others, and develop new coping strategies. Group therapy also helps to reduce feelings of isolation and build a sense of community.
For some individuals, medication is an important part of their mental health treatment. Our PHP includes medication management services, where participants can meet with a medical professional to discuss their medication needs, make adjustments, and monitor progress. This ensures that medication is used effectively as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
In addition to traditional therapies, our PHP incorporates holistic approaches to promote overall well-being. These may include mindfulness practices, yoga, art therapy, and more. These therapies help participants reconnect with their bodies, reduce stress, and develop new ways of expressing themselves.

Therapy in PHP
CBT is a widely used and evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. Through CBT, participants learn to challenge distorted thinking, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and improve their overall mental health.
DBT is particularly effective for individuals struggling with emotional regulation and interpersonal difficulties. This therapy combines individual therapy with skills training in areas such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Many individuals with mental health disorders have experienced trauma, which can have a profound impact on their well-being. Our PHP includes trauma-informed therapy, which recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and seeks to create a safe and supportive environment for healing.
Motivational interviewing is a client-centered approach that helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about change. This therapy is particularly useful for individuals who may be hesitant or unsure about engaging in treatment. It helps to build motivation and commitment to the recovery process.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
PTSD can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Our PHP includes trauma-informed therapy to help individuals process their experiences, reduce symptoms, and regain a sense of safety and control.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD is characterized by intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. Our PHP offers specialized therapies, such as exposure and response prevention (ERP), to help individuals manage OCD symptoms and improve their quality of life.
Substance Use Disorders
Many individuals with mental health disorders also struggle with substance use. Our PHP includes dual diagnosis treatment, providing integrated treatment for both mental health and substance use issues. This holistic approach promotes long-term recovery and overall well-being.
PHP vs. Outpatient Treatment
Level of Care
PHP provides a higher level of care than traditional outpatient therapy. Participants in PHP attend therapy sessions and other therapeutic activities multiple times a week, often for several hours each day. This intensive approach is ideal for individuals who need more support than outpatient care can provide but do not require 24-hour inpatient treatment.
Structure and Support
PHP offers a structured environment with a consistent daily schedule. This structure provides a sense of stability and routine, which is crucial for mental health recovery. Outpatient care, while flexible, may not offer the same level of structure and support.
Transition to Independence
PHP serves as a bridge between inpatient and outpatient care. It provides intensive support while allowing participants to gradually transition back to their daily lives. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals who have completed inpatient treatment and are not yet ready for the less intensive support of outpatient care.
Is PHP Right For You?
Our team at Crestview Recovery can help you assess your needs and determine whether PHP is the right fit for you. We offer comprehensive assessments to evaluate your mental health, treatment history, and goals. Based on results, we can recommend the most appropriate level of care.
Participating in PHP requires a commitment to recovery and a willingness to engage in therapy and other therapeutic activities. It is important to be open to the process and to be willing to put in the work to achieve mental health goals.
PHP may be appropriate if you are experiencing significant mental health symptoms that are impacting your daily functioning but do not require 24-hour inpatient care. It is also a good option if a person has recently completed inpatient treatment and needs continued intensive support as they transition back to daily life.
